Fivemiletown 0 v 1 Seapatrick FC

The U14s lined up at Kernan Playing Fields last Friday night needing a win against Fivemiletown to go level on points at the top of the table. A win for the young village side would see them into a play off with Fivemiletown for the league.

Both teams looked up for it right from the whistle. It was the villagers who opened the scoring first on five minutes with a long ball played out by Jenson Roberts in nets who found the sprinting Jack Smylie up front who managed to latch onto the ball between two defenders. The lone strikers only option was to go for goal which he did brilliantly shooting powerfully past the diving Fivemiletown keeper.

The remainder of the half was played out in the middle of the park with tough tackles from both teams. Neither team managed to register a shot at goal for the rest of the half.

The second half played out much like the end of the first half. With 10 minutes to go, Fivemiletown upped their game needing just a draw to clinch the league title. Attack after attack came at Seapatrick who defended suberbly. Fivemiletown had 6 corners in a row without any clear cut chances.

The village side held their nerve and managed to run out 1 nil winners.

Next weeks match will be played at Craigavon City on Friday 17th at 7.30PM.
